WEATHERFORD (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Brazos River Authority has started releasing water to take pressure off dams at Possum Kingdom Lake.
The release is causing the water level to rise again downstream where dozens of homes were flooded this week.
Albert Legget works at a cafe along the river. He said flooding in 1990 and 1991 was more difficult to manage. “This ain’t nothing,” said Legget. “We’ve seen worse.”
Drew Legget also works at the restaurant. “This ain’t nothing. Two years ago it was up to the road,” he said.
About 30 people in Horseshoe Bend had to evacuate their homes.
