Member of Muslim Mosque Threatened by Woman in ‘Pride’ Shirt

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – Police in Fort Worth said they’re looking into threats made to several people at the Islamic Association of Tarrant County.

Investigators said a member of the mosque complained that a woman wearing a t-shirt with the word “Pride” in rainbow colors told them to “get out of America” and that “someone was coming to kill them,” according to the Dallas Morning News.

In Dallas, Muslim leaders said they’re going over safety guidelines and taking extra precautions in the wake of the deadly attack in Orlando, Florida.  Mayor Mike Rawlings said police were stepping up patrols in entertainment districts, including Oak Lawn.  “This act of terrorism is a tragic illustration of the legitimate safety fears that those in our LGBT community live with every day. That’s why our LGBT brothers and sisters need more than our prayers right now,” Rawlings said in a statement.  “Nothing is more important than the safety of our residents. We will do everything we can to protect them, regardless of race, gender, religion or sexual orientation.”

DPD will also be working other agencies, including the FBI, to keep people safe.

They were joined by several city officials at the Resource Center in Oak Lawn on Sunday night.

15 attacks have been reported in Oak Lawn since last Summer.  Three of them are being investigated as hate crimes.
