DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings has written a letter to the city taxpayers as lawmakers attempt to solve the city pension crisis.

The mayor echoes earlier comments that a bailout from Austin pushed by Representative Dan Flynn is unprecedented and unnecessary.

He says he is opposed to the idea because it would obligate taxpayers to pay over a billion dollars over the next 30 years and that taxpayers will be required to pay among the highest contribution rates to the fund of any city in the country.

Rawlings says he wants to compromise to give flexibility to future Dallas City Councils and a new governance system on the Pension Board.
