Hundreds of Insurance Claims Filed since Weekend Storms in Northeast Texas

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Just days after Saturday’s deadly storms in Northeast Texas, State Farm says they’ve already received more than 460 claims in Van Zandt County.

Chris Pilcic is with State Farm and says it’s important not to hesitate contacting your insurance company if you’ve been affected.

“Be sure you get that process started as quickly as possible so that initial help can help start that recovery and takes the burden off of you a little bit,” he said. “It may not feel so overwhelming then.”

He says many in East Texas have been coming together as a community and helping each other before contacting their insurance companies.

“We’ll be approached by a customer or we’ll approach a customer and they’re saying, ‘You know what, we’re okay, we’re helping our neighbors right now,'” Pilcic said. “We know those claims are going to continue come in. The damage is severe and widespread.”

“You’re obviously really overwhelmed if you’re a storm victim,” he added. “It’s emotionally, physically, and financially draining. But start that conversation with your insurance company. Let them know what you need.”
