Former Dallas Cowboy Drew Pearson Opens Restaurant in DFW International Airport

DALLAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Drew Pearson opened a new restaurant inside DFW International Airport Monday morning.

The restaurant is called Sports 88. It’s a nod to his nickname “The Original 88.”

Pearson said he is honored that the airport gave him the chance to allow a part of his legacy shine there.

“They’re giving a former Dallas Cowboy an opportunity to be here forever implanted at DFW Airport in Terminal E by Gate 5,” he said.

Pearson said the fact that the ribbon cutting ceremony was done on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is even more special adding that it represents growth in businesses run by black men.

“He was all about liberty, justice and opportunity and that’s what DFW Airport is about as well,” he said.

Instead of a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony, Pearson caught a ceremonial football.

He also took a subtle jab at Cowboys star Dez Bryant, saying the Original 88 won’t drop it.
