Meanwhile, temperatures in Tarrant County are holding steady at around 33 to 35 degrees.

The ice is wreaking havoc on roads and power lines.

Weatherford ISD decided to let students out early due to the icy road conditions.

Oncor reported outages across Parker, Wise and Tarrant counties. In Tarrant County, 8,000 residents were left without power as of 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Oncor’s Ashley Webb said she understands how frustrating the situation is.

“We know that this can be an uncomfortable situation especially when the power goes out during this type of weather. We’ve seen outages throughout our territory not only today but this week due to severe weather,” he said.

The heavy rains are expected to taper off this evening but forecasters said that freezing rain is possible overnight.
