Fort Worth Police Arrest Man Charged with Beating 12-year-old Girl

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – The Fort Worth Police Department arrested Terry Wayne King, who is charged with the first degree felony of serious injury to a child.

Police said King was a truck driver with a criminal record. Sergeant Chris Britt said they do not know why King attacked the young student back in April but said they lived in the same neighborhood.

The arrest was made Wednesday morning in Oklahoma City with the assistance of Oklahoma Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service and tips from the community.

The girl, who went to school at the International Newcomer Academy, is still in the hospital.

Superintendent Kent P. Scribner sent out a statement saying, “We are extremely grateful to the persistence and dedication of all the law enforcement professionals who helped bring this senseless and tragic event to this point. Our hearts and prayers remain with the family and the young student as they face a long road of recovery.”

King will be brought into Tarrant County for questioning. The case is under investigation.
