WBAP Recognized by The National Association of Broadcasters

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Cumulus Media Radio Station, WBAP News/Talk 820, is a finalist for the 2018 National Association of Broadcaster’s Marconi Radio Award for “Legendary Station of the Year.” The award is given annually for broadcast excellence.

The 50,000 watt AM News/Talk Radio station serves the Dallas Ft. Worth Area and at night can be heard throughout the Southern, Central, and Midwestern states and Northern Mexico. The WBAP Weather Center, led by Meteorologist Brad Barton, is the official EAS Station for severe weather in the Dallas/FT. Worth Market. The News Department has received numerous awards throughout the years including An Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio Television News Directors Association, The Dupont Columbia Award and the Award of Excellence from the Headliners Association.
Live and local programming includes The Morning News with Brian Estridge and Hal Jay, the Chris Salcedo Show, Rick Roberts and Chris Krok. WBAP is the News/Talk ratings leader in DFW.

WBAP has been on the air since May 2,1922 and is the oldest radio station in Texas. Regional Vice President, Dan Bennett says “since WBAP’s inception in 1922 to now it has achieved its legendary status because of the outstanding on-air talent and employees over the past 96 years. WBAP continues to be relevant because of its focus on delivering great service to the community.”

The winners will be announced September 27, 2018 at the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show in Orlando, Florida.
