Thousands Gather for Botham Jean’s Funeral

RICHARDSON (WBAP/KLIF)- There was a full service for Botham Jean’s funeral at Greenville Avenue Church of Christ in Richardson.

Botham Jean was shot and killed by Dallas Police Officer, Amber Guyger who said she mistakenly walked into his apartment.

Brother Micheal Griffin said the day is not about mourning Botham Jean but celebrating his life. “Celebrate the fact that God gave the world this young, energetic, smart, talented man,” Griffin said.

Family, friends and loved ones spoke about Jean’s character. “Botham had an enthusiasm for life that was contagious, his smile lit up a room, he was passionate about people,” a friend said.

Many others said Jean is a leader, mentor and someone they always looked up to.

Dallas church leaders say they want justice for Jean’s death. “Join us as we continue to lift this family up who seek peace, answers and justice for Bo,” Chairman Brother Sammie Berry said.

Berry demands all officers and agencies to exhaust every resource in this investigation. He asks those responsible for serving justice for Botham, do the right thing.

”Every witness to be interviewed, every camera to be checked,” he said

Officer Amber Guyger was charged with Manslaughter for the shooting death of Botham Jean.
