Willie Nelson Facing Backlash For Supporting O’Rouke

Austin (WBAP/KLIF)  Many Willie Nelson fans aren’t happy with the singer right now because he announced he’ll be headlining the “Turn Out For Texas Rally” for U.S. Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke.  The congressman is running against Senator Ted Cruz in the upcoming mid-term election.  Nelson made the announcement on his facebook page and many fans posted comments like,  “Goodbye Willie, I don’t support socialist commies! You’re not going to advertise on my FB page either. Like we say in Texas, Now Git!”

In a press release, Nelson said, “My wife Annie and I have met and spoken with Beto and we share his concern for the direction things are headed.  Beto embodies what is special about Texas, an energy and an integrity that is completely genuine.”  The event will be held September 29th in Austin at Auditorium Shores.  Admission is free, but you need to RSVP on O’Rourke’s website.  Meantime, Nelson releases a new album called “My Way” Friday.  It features the standards of Frank Sinatra.
