First Free Pharmacy in Texas, Opened in Dallas

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – A North Texas Organization opened the first free pharmacy in the state. The Society of Saint Vincent De Paul, opened its pharmacy in Dallas to help low income families. “There are a lot of people out there that can’t afford their prescription medications, the idea is to fill a significant need that exists,” Pharmacy Director Hank Hermann said. The pharmacy is available to those who have no health insurance, have a household income no greater than double the federal poverty line,  have a valid prescription, and live nine-county service area (Dallas, Ellis, Fannin, Collin, Grayson, Rockwall, Hunt,  Kaufman, Navarro).

The pharmacy is located on 5750 Pineland Dr. 3280, by Walnut Hill Lane and Greenville Avenue. It’s Open Monday-Friday from 11a-2p. Hermann says to call ahead at 469-232-9902 to make sure they have the certain prescription needed.
