Original post:

Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – After 3 years on the job, Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald is reportedly packing his bags to head up Baltimore’s embattled police department.

The Dallas Morning News reports, Mayor Betsy Price has confirmed “to Dallas media” that Fitzgerald has accepted the position.

He would be taking over a department that is under federal oversight for a pattern of “unconstitutional policing.”

Meantime the Baltimore Sun reports,

Fitzgerald would be the fifth top leader of the Baltimore department since 2015.

In that time, the department has struggled with unprecedented violence while endeavoring to regain the community’s trust following the unrest after the death of Freddie Gray from injuries suffered in police custody and the federal racketeering case against members of the rogue, now disgraced Gun Trace Task Force.”
