Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – The City of Fort Worth is now offering paper shredding to Fort Worth residents every day.
Secure shred carts have been installed at all four of the city’s drop-off stations, providing a location to take items for free shredding. Residents can bring up to three boxes per visit — up to six boxes every 30 days — of personal, sensitive documents to be securely shredded. Boxes should weigh no more than 40 pounds each.
Here’s what you need to know:
What kinds of paper can I bring? Sensitive papers that carry your Social Security number, birth date, signature, account numbers, passwords or PIN numbers. These include: old tax information, old bills, dated bank statements, credit card statements, old checks, file folders, medical records, identification, contracts and other business documents. Please note you do not need to remove staples or paperclips.
What isn’t accepted? Metal clips, binders, CDs, DVDs, floppy disks, photos, credit cards, plastic of any kind. No documents with your name and address only; these should be recycled.
Is there a limit on how much I can bring? Yes. Residents are limited to three boxes per visit and up to six boxes every 30 days.
Any other requirements? Just show a recent Fort Worth water bill or current driver’s license with a Fort Worth address and have an active sanitation account.
What about secure shredding? All paper collected at the drop-off stations is being transferred to the Tarrant County Secure Document Destruction facility for shredding and recycling by Tarrant County. Unfortunately due to logistics, witnessing is not allowed. If document destruction witnessing is required, contact a company that allows for witnessing of document destruction.
Shredding is offered every day at all four of the city’s drop-off stations:
- Hillshire Drop-Off Station, 301 Hillshire Drive, Haslet.
- Brennan Drop-off Station, 2400 Brennan Ave.
- Southeast Drop-off Station, 5150 Martin Luther King Freeway.
- Old Hemphill Road Drop-off Station, 6260 Old Hemphill Road.
