Plano Police Department Offers Active Shooter Preparedness Seminar

PLANO (WBAP/KLIF) – The Plano Police Department is offering a series of seminars to educate the public on how to react in an active shooter scenario.

The Department said in a social media post Monday that the number of mass shootings around the country in 2018 has risen above 300 and that it wants citizens to be prepared in the event they encounter an active shooter. Plano PD is offering two free seminars on Saturday, December 1. The first seminar begins at 10 a.m. and the second begins at 2 p.m.

“It’s taught by our Homeland Security Lieutenant,” said Officer David Tilley. “Who has been to several classes and has done quite a bit of research related to active shooter incidents.”

Tilley said the seminars will teach preparedness for an active shooter/active threat incident and bleed control class. The seminars are open to all public and are free of charge. Due to limited seating, people are asked to register here.
