One Man is Dead After Officer Involved Shooting in Carrollton

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Information from Carrollton Police Department

Carrollton, Texas – A Carrollton police officer shot and killed an armed man Saturday after he
advanced on officers pointing a gun and refused commands to drop it.

It happened at approximately 5:30 p.m., Saturday February 23, 2019 in the 1100 block of Walnut
Street in Carrollton after the officers tried to initiate a traffic stop, leading to a short vehicle
pursuit.

The suspect, 28-year-old Sterling Durant Humbert of Carrollton, was pronounced dead at
Parkland Hospital.

No officers were injured. The involved officers are on routine paid administrative leave while
the investigation proceeds. Dash and body camera video of the incident are in evidence.
