FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – Friends and community members are rallying around the Fort Worth family who lost a father and son in a drowning accident over the weekend.

The Fort Worth Fire Department said 51-year-old Martin Gutierrez Talamantes and his son 25-year-old Martin Gutierrez died Saturday, when one man fell into a large rock quarry at Silver Creek Materials and the other drowned in an attempt to rescue him.

The Fort Worth Fire Department Dive Teams recovered the bodies early Sunday.

The property is located along Silver Creek Road near Live Oak Creek on the west side. Officials said the father and son were Silver Creek Materials employees.

The family set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for funeral expenses.

So far, it’s reached a little over $4,000 of it’s $30,000 goal.
