DENTON (WBAP/KLIF News) — An investigation into a Denton High School assistant principal has resulted in him losing his job.
The investigation began when someone called the school district to say assistant principal Howard Palmer used the n-word when telling a student to turn off his music.
A concerned father approached Palmer about it later and posted a video of the interaction to Facebook, where Palmer can be heard saying he grew up with that word.
“I totally know, Mr. Palmer, because if you didn’t, you wouldn’t have used it as an adjective to describe a category of music,” said Prince Njoku, a father of a Denton High School student, in the video.
Palmer said he used the word differently than reported. He claims he told the student to turn off music with that word in it, as opposed to calling it ****** music.
A letter was sent to parents saying Palmer would not return, after originally being placed on administrative leave.
