Bogus Bomb Threat at Richardson Elementary School Prompts Warning to Students

RICHARDSON (WBAP/KLIF) – The Richardson Police Department is asking parents to remind their children that threatening statements can result in serious consequences, following a bomb threat at a Richardson elementary school.

According to Police, Richardson ISD was made aware of the threat Thursday at Yale Elementary School. RISD officials said Friday that investigators found a middle school boy was responsible for making the threat over the phone.

“[Police] determined where the call was coming from and they arrested the subject and are pressing charges against them,” Richardson ISD Spokesman, Chris Moore said.

The boy is charged with False Alarm or Report, which is a state jail felony.

RISD is warning students of the consequences of making a false.

“There’s no such thing as joking around about instances like this,” said Moore. “It’s a very serious offense and can last with you a lifetime if you’re arrested for it.”
