Traveler With Measles Passes Through DFW Airport

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) — The Tarrant County Health Department is warning DFW Airport travelers from earlier this month that they may have been exposed to measles.

Health officials say the infected passenger came through the airport the evening of May 15th.

“If you were at the airport, check your immunization history and look for symptoms over the next few days,” said Tarrant County Director of Public Health Vinny Taneja.

The department says if you were at any of these specific locations at these specific times on that date, you may have been exposed:

  • Terminal D Customs between 5:15 and 7:45 p.m
  • The Skylink tram between 5:45 and 8:00 p.m
  • Terminal A near Gate 8 between 6:00 and 10:05 p.m

Symptoms include fever, cough, and pink eye, and could show up anytime between when the passenger came through the airport and June 5th. However, Taneja said the likelihood of someone in North Texas contracting the disease is low.

“It’s a highly infectious illness, but only to those who are not immunized,” Taneja said. “That’s the key point. It’s not to alarm the general public that everybody’s at risk. That’s not the case at all.”
