Fort Worth ISD Southwest HS Staff, Students Sign Beam to be Part of New Field House Construction

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- Fort Worth ISD’s Southwest High School is getting a brand new field house for the school’s athletic department. Clint Bond with Fort Worth ISD said they invited the Superintendent, principal, students and teachers to sign a steal beam that will be become a part of the field house. “People who signed it today will know that their name will live on and that will be a part of the whole project,” Bond said. The single story 9,000 square foot, freestanding field house will serve both boys and girls outdoor athletic teams with locker rooms, bathrooms and shower facilities. It will also include coaches’ offices, a training room, laundry facilities and equipment storage. Voters approved the athletic field house as part of the 2013 capital improvement project. The ceremony included the presentation of two plaques to the school in memory of coaches John Church and Reginald Seastrunk, as well as a special farewell reception for Dr. Ann Sutherland, former Fort Worth ISD Board of Education member.

Bond said it’s expected to be completed in the 2020 school year.
