Three Areas In Texas Not Meeting Federal Air Quality Standards

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Texas Department of Transportation is promoting its “Drive Clean Texas Campaign, with the expectation of more drivers on the road during the Summer months. According to TxDot, three areas in the state -Dallas / Fort Worth, Houston / Galveston, and El Paso are not meeting federal air quality standards.

Additionally, the agency reports, at least six other Texas cities (Austin, San Antonio, Victoria, Tyler / Longview, Beaumont / Port Arthur and Corpus Christi) are also close to exceeding healthy levels of air pollutants.

TxDot developed the ‘Drive Clean Texas Campaign’…asking drivers to do their part to improve and protect the cities’ air quality. The campaign is designed to demonstrate how simple changes in driving behaviors can have a big impact on vehicle emissions and air quality.

Some examples include obeying speed limits & properly inflating tires. For more information and to view the full list of what you can do reduce emissions and protect our state’s air quality, visit www.drivecleantexas.org.
