Tropical storm Barry part of a triple threat to the gulf coast.

As the newly named Tropical Storm Barry barrels toward the Gulf Coast, several airlines have announced that they’re offering travel waivers.

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Scientists say Tropical Storm Barry could affect the Gulf environment in a number of ways. But the extent of the damage is uncertain because the region is dealing with a rare one-two-three punch, with heavy rain and a storm surge on top of record high water levels in the Mississippi River. The deluge is likely to send even more farmland fertilizers down the river and into the Gulf of Mexico, where they could feed an oxygen-poor “dead zone.” Trees, marshes and fisheries also could be vulnerable.
