Dallas Police Department To Host LGBTQ Self Defense Class

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Police Department will be helping host a self defense class this weekend for the LGBTQ community. This is in response to several violent assaults in the last several months in the Metroplex which seemed to target the transgendered community. One hundred and fifty people have already registered for the event. Nick Chamberlain, owner of the Chamberlain Studios of Self Defense in Dallas, will be teaching the class. He says it’s always important to be aware of your environment, no matter your gender, and to walk in a group or with a friend whenever possible.

The class will be held Saturday, July 27th at the Juanita Craft Recreation Center at 4500 Spring Avenue in Dallas, from 12PM to 3PM. There is no current plan to limit the class and about 25 instructors are expected to help train.
