Record Breaking Tornado Hits DFW

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – According to The Insurance Council of Texas tornadoes that ripped through north Texas Sunday night caused over 2 billion dollars in damage, making this the costliest tornado event in state history.

The council’s Mark Hanna says “one of the many reasons is because of the number of high-end homes destroyed.” The only other tornadic storm that comes close is the EF4 tornado that hit Garland and Rowlett Decemer 26, 2015.

A tornado that touched down in northern Dallas left more than 150,000 without power.

Nobody was killed during the storms, but schools, homes, churches and infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.  At the height of the storm more than 150,000 people were without power.  Crews were brought in from other regions to help restore electricity.
