Hundreds Attend Fort Worth’s Holiday Festivities Kickoff

FORT WORTH – WBAP/KLIF – Hundreds are filling Sundance Square in Fort Worth for the 6 pm annual tree lighting ceremony (this) Saturday evening.  Santa Claus is talking with children atop his sleigh; visits are $20 and include a photograph.  Proceeds benefit the Fort worth Sister Cities International Youth Program.  Santa will be available from 11 am tomorrow until 9 at night as well.

Fort Worth’s 37th annual Parade of lights kicks off Sunday at  Weatherford  and Throckmorton. The parade route has participants moving east along Weatherford, south on Commerce and then south to 9th street.   it will move west to Houston Street, then north on Houston to 2nd Street.  With a few more twists and turns, the parade is expected to end on 3rd street.

Volunteers will collect unwrapped toys for children up to the age of 12 along that parade route starting tat 5:30 pm.  Toy donations should be new and again; unwrapped.

In total, more  than 1.2 million people are expected to visit Sundance Square through this years’ winter holidays.
