Court Rules Dallas County District Map Does Not Discriminate

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) A Federal appeals court has affirmed a ruling by a lower court that there was no evidence of Dallas County Commissioners discriminating against white voters when the Democratic controlled Commissioner’s Court put a new redistricting map in place in 2011. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals announced the ruling on Friday. In the lawsuit, four white voters claimed the new map was essentially “racial gerrymandering”. Lawyers representing Dallas County made the argument that the map simply reflected the county’s changing demographics.
