TARRANT COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF)- Although there has been a report of the china-linked coronavirus in Washington State, Tarrant County Health officials say the chances of it spreading to the Metroplex are very unlikely. “This is one case of 300 million people in America so the chances of seeing it in North Texas right now are really low….in fact, The CDC is saying the risk in the United States is extremely low at this point,” said Russ Jones Tarrant County Chief Epidemiologist. Jones said passengers from Wuhan to the U.S. will only be allowed to land at one of five U.S. airports doing health screenings, and DFW International Airport isn’t on the list. “During screenings they will bring people off the plane and observe them. They are looking for symptoms of coughing, shortness of breath or fever and they won’t let these people into the country until they’ve been checked,” he said.

Jones said you’re more likely to have the virus if you have visited Wahun or been in contact with someone with the virus.

Officials in China say the virus has left at least six people dead and sickened more than 300, after it was confirmed the infection can be passed between humans.
