The News Room

Bob Crowley

Bob Crowley is the overnight news anchor for WBAP, and the news anchor for the Saturday Morning News.

Bob’s love of broadcasting began at an early age. As a young boy, he would fall asleep with a transistor radio under his pillow. At the age of 14 he earned his Radio-Telephone Operators License (3rd class). At 15 he was a studio announcer for KLRN-TV, the Public Television Station for San Antonio. At 17 he delivered his first newscast on a commercial station, in Houston. In the ensuing years, he worked at top rated operations including KTSA/KTFM San Antonio in the 1970’s, KENS-TV and WOAI-AM in San Antonio the 1980s, and KVET/KASE in Austin in the 1990’s. His stringer reports have aired on virtually every major broadcast network, including ABC, CBS, NBC, Mutual, Voice of America, A.P., U.P.I., R.T.E. Ireland and the BBC.

In the WBAP Newsroom, he works closely with WFAA-TV, ABC Radio News, MetroNetworks and the Associated Press. He also supports the Midnight Radio Network with news and weather information, and is the voice heard when E.A.S. Weather Bulletins and Amber Alerts are issued. His newscasts overnight can be heard on WBAP’s 50,000 watt skywave from Texas to 37 other states, parts of Canada and the Republic of Mexico.

Bob lives with his wife Sue and their five sons in Arlington. They are active in their schools, church and Boy Scouts of America.
