Wise Co. Teacher Arrested
Brdigeport (WBAP) - A Bridgeport High School teacher was arrested Tuesday afternoon on one count of sexual assault of a child and one charge of improper relationship between educator and student -- both 2nd-degree felonies He was held late Tuesday on $50,000 bond and later released after posting bail.
A B.H.S. web site says Derek B. Worlow teaches Video Technology at the school, although one report describes him as a "former" teacher. Worlow graduated from Bridgeport High in 1996.
No details of the allegations have been made public, although the victim is said to have been 16 years old at the time of the incidents.
Each charge against Worlow carries a maximum fine of $10,000 and/or a prison sentence of two to 20 years.
