KELLER (WBAP) - Late last year, 10-year-old Phillip Pruitt of Keller and his mother, Cyndi Bunch, collected more than 16,000 blankets for Tarrant County's cold and homeless. About 400 of the donated blankets went to the Skyline Mobile Home Park in Haltom City, because some residents were living without electricty. Under the name of their social service group "Phillip's Wish," Ms. Bunch and her son also distributed a thousand toys at Skyline.
When they learned of Monday's devastating floods in the same neighborhood, this mother-son team sprang into action, launching a campaign to collect cleaning supplies, toiletries and cash for Haltom City flood victims, beginning with a $2,000 donation from Mike Bowman's Century 21 office in Grapevine.
Riverwalk Fellowship Church at 5612 Glenview Dr. in Haltom City is handling the cash donations and serving as a drop-off point for recovery supplies. Ms. Bunch can be reached at 817/379-1287. Ms. Bunch founded the group "Phillip's Wish" in 2004 after her young son expressed concern for his father, who was schizophrenic and living on the streets.
