New Hospital in FW Has Feminine Touch

FORT WORTH (WBAP) - A new hospital opens in Fort Worth's medical district on Monday that's for women only.  Andrews Women's Hospital at Baylor All Saints Medical Center at Fort Worth is a $95 million, four-story facility.  It features 25 labor and delivery rooms, 8 operating rooms, 63 NICU beds, 28 ante partum beds, 12 day patient surgery rooms, 18 gynecological inpatient rooms, 64 postpartum rooms and 64 well-baby nursery beds.

It's also considered a boutique hospital, meaning it's part hospital, part hotel and part spa.

"When you look down the corridors, when you look into the rooms, your sightline is not just long, sterile corridors like those traditional hospitals," Andrews Women's Hospital Administrator Janice Whitmire said.  "Sections are chopped up a little bit differently to allow women to have a more cozier feel, a more home-like feel, so that they feel a little bit more comfortable."

But don't let that fool you.  Andrews Women's Hospital Medical Director Dr. Robert Watson says they offer comprehensive healthcare.

We actually have a full array of services to handle the needs of women from reproductive age all the way through menopause and beyond, Dr. Watson said.

The hospital is touted to fill a gap in obstetrical services for Tarrant County's growing female population.

It will soon feature a spa, a comprehensive breast center and will offer reproductive medicine specialty services.
