DALLAS (WBAP 24/7 News) - When Big Tex returns this fall, he'll be bigger than ever.
Fair officials say the rebuilt icon will be 55 feet tall - three feet taller than he was before he burned on the final Friday of the fair last October.
He'll also weigh 24,000 pounds - nearly four times as much as before.
His surroundings at Big Tex Circle will get some upgrades, too. The fair will create a higher mound on which he stands and the white picket fence that surrounds him is being replaced.
All of this work and beautification is costing a total of about $1 million.
