(WBAP 24/7 News) - The TSA says a record number of guns - more than 1,500 - have been confiscated by airport security screeners in 2012, and 85 percent were loaded, reports USA Today.

The most guns were found at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, followed by Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

As of last Friday, the Transportation Security Administration had found 1,527 guns at airports across the country, of which 1,295 were loaded, NBC News reports. That's the most guns found since the agency was created following the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Atlanta's airport tops the list of gun confiscations with 90, followed by D/FW with 78.

The gun most often found is the .380 semiautomatic pistol, according to the TSA.
