(WBAP 24/7 News) - Tom Leppert started a new job Tuesday.
The Former Dallas Mayor and U.S. Senate candidate spent his first day as president and CEO of Kaplan, Inc., a $2.5 billion global education giant owned by The Washington Post Co.
The 58-year-old Leppert hit the ground running with staff meetings at headquarters in Fort Lauderdale.
He isn't planning to leave Dallas. Leppert and his wife, Laura, will continue to live in Dallas.
Leppert has spent the past seven months assessing options pitched to him after his unsuccessful bid for Kay Bailey Hutchison's Senate seat. He had offers to run corporations and to get into private equity.
Kaplan, with 25,000 employees, is the world's largest tutor for standardized tests for college and graduate school admission. It also offers English-languate training and certification programs, and is a major player in online education.
