(WBAP 24/7 News) - Former Johnson County Commissioner John Matthews, who was convicted of theft by a public servant and tamering with a public record, is scheduled to be released from prison Tuesday.
Jason Clark, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, said last week that the state won't make public details on where Matthews will go until he is released. Currently, Matthews is incarcerated in the Pack I unit in Huntsville, and was also housed in the Estes pre-release facility in Venus.
Johnson County District Attorney Dale Hanna could not be reached for comment Friday, according to a report by the Fort Worth-Star Telegram.
Matthews, 50, was sentenced in July to four years in prison for taking at least $!25,000 in payments from a vendor and five years of proabtion for tampeirng with a government record, and was ordered to repay the county $5,000.
