GRAND PRAIRIE (WBAP 24/7 News) - As the family of six-year-old John Raidy begins to plan the boy's funeral, Grand Prairie police continue to search for the person who they say caused his death.
Raidy was crossing North Carrier Parkway Thursday evening about 7:30 with his mother and young sister. Police say a black, four-door hatchback ran a red light that had been red for 14 seconds and slammed into the boy as he stepped into the crosswalk.
Authorities say the boy was carried on the hood of the car for nearly 300 feet before he fell to the ground. They say the driver then sped off.
Police released surveillance video of the car on Friday, but have not been able to obtain a license plate or an exact model.
Anyone with information about the accident is encouraged to call Grand Prairie police
