IRVING (WBAP 24/7 News) - Deals to sell off sweets formerly made by bankrupt Hostess Brands may close this week, people close to the case said Tuesday.
Once the equipment, buildings, recipes and right to make the products officially change hands, it could still take weeks to restart production.
But a Hostess attorney told a New York bankruptcy judge that some of the owners-to-be are eager to get products back on shelves in time for summer cookouts.
Lisa Laukitis, an attorney with Jones Day, which is representing Hostess, said the company hopes to close this week on the sale of its major sweets brands, including Twinkies.
