FORT WORTH (WBAP 24/7 News) - Another 68 employees at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in west Fort Worth received layoff notices on Monday.

Lockheed spokesman Ken ross says the layoffs are needed to adjust staffing based on program and business needs and are not related to sequestration, the automatic federal spending cuts that could take effect on Friday if Congress doesn't take action on the budget.

Lockheed has announced more than 300 layoffs since January at the plant, which builds the F-35 and F-16 fighter jets. The complex has about 14,000 employees.

Employees haven't been told if more layoffs are coming, but rumors are flying that more notices are in store, according to Paul Black, president of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, District Lodge 776.
