FORT WORTH (WBAP 24/7 News) - About 110 workers, mostly aircraft assemblers, have been laid off at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in west Fort Worth as a result of budgetary pressurs in the defense industry, according to the company.

Lockheed spokesman Ken Ross says the employees received notice of the layoffs in November.

Ross says the layoffs are no related to sequestration, the looming budget cuts that are possible if Congress cannot work out a budget deal in the next two months.

He says he cannot speculate about more layoffs, which he says are part of the "ebb and flow" of workers in the plant.

Ross says those affected by the layoffs worked on different production lines at the factory. The decision about which employees to lay off was determined by union contracts.
