No Major Injuries, Only Damage at Gun Range Fire
February 24, 2013
DALLAS (WBAP 24/7 News) - Fire officials say no charges will be filed against a man who reportedly set off a four-alarm fire at DFW Gun Range and Training Center Sunday afternoon.
Crews were called to the scene just after 2:30 as massive plumes of smoke and flames reached high in the air. Fire officials say 50-100 people were inside at the time, but all managed to escape unharmed. A firefighter was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, said Jason Evans with Dallas Fire-Rescue.
Evans says the fire started when a customer shot tracer rounds inside the facility and one of those rounds became lodged in the back wall. The customer's actions appeared to be accidental, said Evans.
A monetary value hasn't been placed on the fire's damage, but the entire north end of the building was destroyed.
