Severe Weather Possible in North, East Texas and Tornado Weather Across Deep South Again

(WBAP/KLIF) – Just one week after Easter Sunday tornadoes that killed at least 36 people across the Deep South, millions of Americans are again facing the possibility of large and powerful tornadoes.  While the chances exist for East Texas to see some severe weather, the greatest threat being large hail and damaging winds along with pop up thunderstorms, the South is watching weather formation that could lead to tornado activity again.  Forecasters say the greatest risk to the Deep South will be in parts of Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia today.

North Texas woke up Sunday to a nearly 50-50 chance of seeing a rain shower or thunderstorm today; that’s now downgraded to a 30% chance; but National Weather Service forecasters warn high winds and damaging hail up to the size of golf balls could develop this afternoon in North Texas

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Kaufman and Rockwall Counties that expired at 12  noon today.

WBAP’s Chief Meteorologist Brad Barton is monitoring weather developments, and will join us live on WBAP AM for updates on the weather as warranted.
