Fort Worth Man Pleads Guilty to Avoid Death Penalty

(WBAP/KLIF) — A Fort Worth man pleads guilty to killing a fellow college student in Louisiana.  24 year-old Brandon Theesfeld avoided the death penalty by pleading guilty to first degree murder in the death of 21 year old Ally Kostial.

In 2019, Theesfeld reportedly took the young woman to a lake near campus to discuss Kostial possibly being pregnant. Police later found the woman shot eight times with a gun traced back to Theesfeld. Kostial, who was a St. Louis native, was attending the University of Mississippi and was known to date Theesfeld from time to time.

Theesfeld pleaded guilty, Friday, to first degree murder in a Louisiana circuit court.  The plea deal removed the death penalty from the table and according to defense attorney Tony Farese, the lesser plea included a conditional release provision that could allow Theesfeld to be released at age 65.
