Massive, Potentially Flooding Rainfall Across North, Central Texas

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Three weather systems will combine to bring enormous amounts of rainfall across North and Central Texas beginning this afternoon through overnight and potentially morning hours. National Weather Service meteorologists say North Texans should expect to see 2 to 5 inches of rain on average, although as much as 8 to 10 inches of rain could occur in some areas

Systems will move in from the north, south and west, converging over the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex and beyond, with storms and heavy rains likely through the morning drive hours; experts suggest you plan ahead for flooding with extra travel time, and remind us of the “turn around, don’t drown” slogan; expecting flash flooding when approaching and considering what appear to be lightly flooded or wet areas.

Heavy rainfall affects much of the Southwest, with a search for missing hikers continuing in many areas, and hikers in Carlsbad Caverns National Park forced to shelter in place overnight; rescued only Sunday morning. The park remains closed with flooding causing impassable conditions on the main highway through that park.
