DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The pilot of a P-51 Mustang had to land with its wheels up at Dallas Executive Airport on Wednesday.  “Fortunately, there was no fire,” said Jason Evans with Dallas Fire-Rescue.  “There were also no injuries.”

FAA records show the single-engine plane is registered to the American Airpower Heritage Flying Museum, which is a subsidiary of the Commemorative Air Force.

The plane sustained extensive damage, according to officials.

Investigators are looking into why the landing gear failed.
