CPS Workers Fired Over Grand Prairie Girl’s Death

WRIGHT MOMDALLAS – A CPS caseworker and a supervisor have been fired and a special investigator has resigned after accusations the agency failed to prevent the death of 4 year old Leiliana Wright.  The Grand Prairie police department says the girl was beaten to death by her mother and her mother’s boyfriend, who were high on heroin, after they say the girl drank her brother’s juice.  The girl’s mother Jeri Quezada and her boyfriend Charles Phifer have been jailed on charges of injury to a child.  CPS is investigating whether its workers bungled the case.  CPS spokesperson Marissa Gonzales says the agency had contact with the girl’s family before her death.
