HOUSTON (WBAP/KLIF News) Just by listening to this woman, you may assume she’s from London. But in reality, Lisa Alamia was born and raised right here in Texas, just outside Houston. The mother of three underwent jaw surgery to correct an overbite. But afterward, she started speaking with a British accent. Doctors say the side effect called “Foreign Accent Syndrome” is rare, but possible. It’s happened to fewer than 100 people worldwide in the past 100 years. Alamia says she is now undergoing speech therapy to hopefully regain her old Texas accent.
