Ft. Worth (WBAP/KLIF news) – A version of the world’s most advanced fighter jet…the F-35 Lightning 2…will soon be on its way to Israel.

At the unveiling ceremony at Lockheed-Martin, Governor Greg Abbott says he met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this year.

“He demonstrated unflinching resolve to defend Israel from all threats,” said Abbott.  “I let him know, Texas stands with Israel.”

The Israeli Air Force will start getting the F-35 “Adir” — which is Hebrew for “Mighty One”, in December.  A total of 33 Adirs have been ordered.

Versions of the F-35 are in final testing for the US Air Force and the US Navy, which plan deployments starting this Fall.  The US Marine Corps’ version went into operation service last year.

The F-35 is the world’s first “Generation 5” fighter jet, which incorporates stealth technology, networked command, control and communications, and advanced avionics.
