50 Dogs Displaced by Baton Rouge Flood Headed to Dallas

spcaDallas (WBAP/KLIF News) – The SPCA of Dallas traveled to Baton Rouge on Tuesday to pick up the dogs from a local shelter. It’s an effort to make room for the dozens of dogs left homeless due to the flood.

The Human Society of United States Texas Director Katie Jarl said the help from emergency placement partners is vital during a crisis. “We are covering transport costs and providing some financial assistance to those emergency management partners that are willing to step up by taking some of these dogs and alleviating the immense stress that these local shelters are under right now,” said Jarl.

She said once the dogs arrive in Dallas; the SPCA will need donations, volunteers and potential pet parents. “More than anything once these dogs are ready get adopted the City of Dallas can really step up and help by going in and checking out some of the amazing Louisiana dogs that they are going to have up for adoption in the city of Dallas,” said Jarl.

The dogs should arrive in Dallas no later than Thursday.
