DFW International Airport Receives Fallen Soldier Cart

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Dallas/Fort Worth International airport is now home to a Fallen Soldier Cart.

It was built by a team of technicians to allow all airlines flying from DFW to transport the remains of fallen service members.

The program began when Alaskan Airlines employees noticed remains being carried in the belly of the plane with other cargo.

The carrier presented the cart to DFW Airport officials with an escort from the Patriot Guard Motorcycle Riders Monday morning.

Dan Brosch with Alaska Airlines said the airline is pleased to bring the cart to Texas.

“It means a lot. We know that the great state of Texas is very passionate about the military. We fly in here and we’re a part of this community. We want to represent ourselves and our military in the best fashion possible,” he said.

Alaskan Airlines technician Jim Rea said the cart was brought over 2,000 miles from Seattle to DFW.

“As your riding in formation with over 100 motorcycles, so there’s a little skill involved in driving it down in formation. It’s very respectful,” he said.

DFW Airport is the eighth airport in the country to receive a Fallen Soldier Cart.
