Dallas Police Officer Hospitalized After Hit and Run Crash

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – A Dallas police officer is in critical condition after a crash sent his squad car into a creek.

It happened after 3 p.m. on Westmoreland Road near  Keist Boulevard.

Investigators said after the impact, the officer’s squad car fell 30 feet into the creek.

This resident said after the crash, neighbors quickly rushed into the creek and pulled the officer from the squad car.

“I heard a kaboom and I just ran outside. They said there was a police car down in the ditch and everybody was down there trying to push the police car back over. It took like twenty guys to push the police car back over,” she said.

Police said they’re still searching for the driver who caused the crash and that there could have been another person in the car with him.

They believe the white pickup truck he allegedly abandoned at the scene was possibly stolen.
